Voting for 2024 resolutions
December 5, 2023
0

At our January meeting we will be voting for our choice of resolution to go forward. If you can’t make that meeting, please send your vote into Lesley (n1wisec@mfwi.org.uk) or use the selection slip in WI Life and post it to MFWI. We need to notify Middlesex Federation of our vote by the first week of February.

Details of each resolution are in the November/December issue of WI life, and the MFWI Public Affairs Committee are running a Zoom meeting for to talk through them all at 7.30 on 10th January: the link will be in the next MFWI weekly mailing or ask us nearer the time.

In summary, the resolutions are:

  • Dental Health Matters: calling on the Government address the shortage of NHS dentists.
  • Impacts of poor housing conditions: calling on Government to boost housing standards and regulations, and to work with relevant bodies to increase availability of affordable and secure housing.
  • Say ‘no’ to gambling advertising: calling for a collaboration between relevant bodies to achieve a ban in gambling advertising.
  • Improving Outcomes for Women in the Criminal Justice System: calling for cross-government collaborations to deliver on a strategy set out in 2018 to reduce the number of women imprisoned for non-violent offences.

If you can’t attend the Zoom meeting, all the detailed information is on the WI website at https://mywi.thewi.org.uk/nfwi-news/articles/resolution-shortlist-2023-24.
