This month we’re going to be making mosaic coasters with Sally Kendall. All materials will be supplied and one coaster will be free for members but we ask visitors to pay a £5 donation to help cover costs. If you want to make an additional coaster after the first it will be £5 per coaster.

Do you know your Merlot from your Rioja?

N1 WI has been serving wine at meetings for some time now but on a slightly ad hoc (sorry) basis. So we thought it might be a good idea to get some feedback on what you think about what we’ve been buying and what we should serve in the future.

This month we’ll be holding a wine tasting during the social half hour (7 to 7:30). Instead of donating £3 for one glass of wine you can donate £3 and get a sample of three different wines – either red or white – and rank them. Based on the feedback we get that’s what we’ll buy in the future. So come to the next meeting ready to choose.

Cake, cake glorious cake

Everybody knows that the WI has a reputation for producing fantastic cakes and now is your chance to dust off your favourite recipe and enter the N1 WI cake contest at this month’s meeting!

The competition is for a tray bake – so that could be brownies, flapjacks, parkin, lemon drizzle etc. – the key thing is that it has no icing.

You can enter as many different recipes as you like, but each entry must :

1. Be presented on a plate
2. Have 12 equally sized pieces
3. Be presented with a list of ingredients

The judging will take place during the break at July’s meeting. Good Luck!
