The annual summer social was particularly anticipated this year, after so many months of not being able to meet with other N1WI members in person. We had hoped to hold a socially distanced picnic in Highbury Fields on Tuesday 25 August. Safety guidance was written and picnics were planned.

Sadly the wonderful weather of previous weeks took a dramatic turn for the worst and plans had to be changed on the actual day, when heavy rain was forecast for the afternoon. Reluctantly, the committee decided that Highbury Fields was not the place for picnicking, sitting on grass with the threat of rain, which did indeed arrive.

Fortunately an alternative option of Scavenger Bingo had been suggested and organised by some of the committee, just in case. A small group of N1WI members and some visitors joined the Zoom meeting and went enthusiastically in search of a wide range of objects. No prizes were awarded, but everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and for those who didn’t actually go scavenging, it was very entertaining to watch.
